Background Information

In the recent past various competitions were held at Jubilee Park Skate Park in Bedford and proved to be very popular.
However, there were many young people watching who did not have any equipment to skate or skateboard with, but were very interested in participating.
Ken Lynch sugested that a Skating School Club should be formed.
With the cost being so high for a professional skater to coach the children it was decided to use competent skaters who are between the ages of 12 to 18 to assist in teaching others.
All of these teenage volunteers are supervised by an adult and all adults are Police checked.

Health & Safety

We take Health & Safety very seriously at the Skating School Club. The use of safety equipment such as helmets and pads are particularly encouraged. All equipment is provided and complies to the required standards. All participants are insured and sponsored first-aid courses will be provided where required.
Clearly visible signs & notices encouraging the use of safety equipment are displayed around the various skate parks.
Maintenance of boards, skates and other equipment is also a key area and instruction and assistance will be be given when necessary.

What Next?

Lessons are now being held in Bedford, Biggleswade, Sandy, and Potton and there have been requests from other areas to set up more schools across Bedfordshire.
